Cross Switch goes live in South Africa with NjiaPay partnership, expanding payment options for merchants.

Cross Switch, a leading provider of innovative payment solutions, today announced its partnership with NjiaPay, a payment performance partner that unifies payment infrastructure and improves reliability for emerging businesses in Africa.

Working together, Cross Switch and NjiaPay now give businesses easier access to both local and international payment capabilities while simplifying how they manage payments.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to making payments more accessible, flexible, and efficient for merchants operating in South Africa. Rather than focusing on technical complexity, both companies aim to deliver practical benefits that help businesses expand their reach, streamline operations, and offer customers more payment choices.

Through this collaboration, merchants can access Open Banking–enabled South African banks, including Absa, Capitec, and Nedbank, as well as popular digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. The integration also supports simplified processing of EUR, GBP, and USD transactions through a single connection, helping businesses scale internationally without added operational friction.

Merchants using the NjiaPay Shopify app can also access Cross Switch capabilities directly, making it easier for online businesses to enhance payment flexibility without complex development work.

Jonatan Allback, CEO of NjiaPay, says, “We welcome partnerships that expand choice and create practical value for merchants. Our goal is always to increase payment performance while enabling collaboration across the ecosystem. This partnership supports that vision by giving South African businesses easier access to multiple payment capabilities through our platform.”

Mark Chirnside, Cross Switch Africa CEO, adds, “This partnership with NjiaPay helps us extend our reach in South Africa while ensuring merchants benefit from a straightforward way to access diverse payment methods. Together, we’re focused on enabling growth, flexibility, and a better payment experience for businesses and their customers.”

The collaboration highlights both companies’ broader approach to enabling greater merchant choice, reducing complexity, and supporting seamless integrations across payment partners.
